McCarter Reserve bourbon is coming in at an ABV of 44.5%/89 proof.

It’s definitely a bourbon on the lighter side of the heat scale with it being below 100 proof.

Personally, I feel like this is a good thing because the heat isn’t going to overwhelm the casual whiskey drinker or tequila drinker looking to get into bourbon/whiskey.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted a bottle and also able to try it at our June 3rd Tasting so I’m not sure exactly how much it’ll be at a store here in Chicago.

It normally goes for approximately $45 a bottle in store.

Recommended Ways To Enjoy

This is honestly an extremely versatile bourbon!

During the tasting, I was able to try this neat, on the rocks, and in a nice cocktail featuring some high ABV brews with fresh mint.

Honestly, every single version was delicious in my book!

Not a single one was off putting for me or in a fashion I didn’t enjoy finishing.

Of course my preferred fashion of enjoying this bourbon is neat, but I recommend enjoying this bourbon in any fashion outside of shots!

Group Ranking- Table Bottle

This was honestly a fan favorite at the June 3rd tasting!

The general consciences ranking of this bourbon was the perfect table bottle for all bourbon lovers.

It’s an easy drinker that you can sip on and enjoy or pour over rocks to knock whatever edge it may have to make it that much smoother.

The best cocktails recommended by the group for this bourbon was either an old fashion or a whiskey sour.

I honestly agree 100% with the Flossmoor club members who ranked this bottle!

I loved the slight spice on the back end for this bourbon that also featured that delicious cherry, oak, and sweet corn blend throughout the pour.

With the price being $40-$45 a bottle….

Yeah, this is going to be in my bourbon every day sipper rotation for sure!
