Welcome to another Table Bottle Tuesday! In this episode I review Lunazul Tequila’s extra añejo expression.

This brand’s blanco, reposado, and añejo expressions are widely available in the majority of areas, but their extra añejo has been more elusive to find!

This tequila out of NOM 1513 did something truly special with their XA expression though.

They decided to age their XA in former Elijah Craig Bourbon barrels!

By them doing so it really transformed this expression into something completely unique from all their other ones.

Their añejo expression usually goes for about $20 a bottle which makes this a true budget brand. Especially with their XA coming in at the low low price of $40 a bottle.

At that price alone…

Already a bottle I may look to keep around just for the pure value!

TLA Recommended Ways To Enjoy

I’m not going to hold you on this one for even a second!

This is a neat all day every day & twice on Sunday for me!

I can see someone enjoying this in like a tequila old fashion or something of that nature, which I think would be good in that type of cocktail.

Maybe a tequila sour or a tequila pineapple and lime would be pretty delicious as well.

Ranking– Top Shelf

This tequila is a truly unique one.

At the $40 price range you’d automatically think its a table bottle at best.

But….

It’s a limited edition extra añejo though and isn’t coming back out for at least a couple years after this release.

Not to mention, it’s also aged in Elijah Craig Bourbon barrels!

With all that being said……

This is the cheapest bottle that sits on my top shelf right now!

I absolutely love this tequila and wish it was more readily available to pick up several more bottles.

So yes, this is a top shelf bottle in my book for sure!

Taste Category– Well balanced tequila

In terms of tasting category…..

This is more of a well balanced tequila to me.

There is a nice sweetness to the expression, but the influence from the Elijah Craig Bourbon barrel spice really calms down that vanilla sweetness to create a beautiful marriage between the two.

Definitely in my top 3 of favorite $40 bottles, if not #1….
